Proper Handwashing

  1. Wet your hands with clean, running water, either warm or cold.
  2. Apply soap and lather well.
  3. Rub your hands vigorously for at least 20 seconds.
  4. Rinse well.
  5. Dry your hands with a clean towel or air-dry them.

Cleaning Fruits and Vegetables

  1. Gently rub produce while holding under plain running water. There’s no need to use soap or a produce wash.
  2. Use a clean vegetable brush to scrub firm produce, such as melons.
  3. Dry produce with a clean paper towel to reduce bacteria that may be present.
